ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
The Department of Statistics was established in the same year of the establishment of the college in the year 2017. Statistics department provides education at undergraduate level in general courses as well as in HS level. The objective of this department is to equip quality students with consequently requisite quantitative skills that they can employ and build on in flexible ways. Statistical understanding is an essential tool for comprehension of the world and it empowers one with the capacity for rational thinking and judgments. The department at present is running with only one faculty member. The Department of Statistics teaches the Business Statistics (BST), Business Mathematics and Statistics(BMS), Business Research Methods and Project Work as core paper at UG level under Gauhati University. Apart from these, the department is involved in teaching Business Mathematics & Statistics in Higher Secondary classes under Assam Higher Secondary Education Council.

• To aim at all round development of the students of the college in general and Statistics in particular
by providing training in data analysis.

• To promote statistical reasoning and use of sound statistical practice in the college and beyond.

• To develop statistical data analysis skills required in various sectors like Government, industries,
Research Laboratories etc.

• To become a centre of excellence for learning.
