Profile of the Department :
Located on the scenic campus of PDUAM, Tulungia, the Department of English has emerged as a prime element in enhancing the creativity and language proficiency of the students pertaining to English language learning since the establishment of the college in the year 2017.
The Department aims to facilitate a vibrant academic culture, providing a teaching methodology grounded on balancing English language proficiency and literature. The Department offers English as a UG course and HS level course in regular mode and a PG Course in Distance and Open Learning Mode with a certificate course on Spoken English. The department with its well-qualified faculties always strives to motivate students for their versatile development. Presently, the department offers both Honours and Generic courses under the present updated CBCS (NEP-2020) framework of B.A and Generic courses for B.Sc. and B.Com programmes under Gauhati University. The faculty members of the department are always trying to give emphasis on providing better knowledge and value based education through using modern teaching learning aids. It is a student-centric department that focuses on not only the academic development but also the holistic development of the students regarding practical, career-oriented, and job-oriented aspects and diverse socio-economic fields.

The Department also endevour to inspire students for creativity, art, poetry, and literature including areas of knowledge in digital creativity.

a) Serve towards the upliftment of the student community and create capable human resources to deal with modern day challenges.
b) Empower the students through skill-based training develop personality and professional competency and mould them into responsible citizens.
c) Create a conducive environment for learning using supportive and effective methods with the help of ICT and digital tools.
d) Apply innovative methods of the teaching-learning process, and use new approaches of education to enhance the quality of learning.
e) Upgrade with the new NEP2020.
